IOP (Iron Ore Pelletization) includes the bentonites used in the production of iron ore pellets for foundry processes (blast furnaces). They are sodium bentonites with elevated colloidal and binding properties, which mixed with iron ore fines and subjected to a mechanical agglomeration process, form compact pellets with high mechanical performance.

Bentonite can be used as a binder to make various fluxing materials adhere to the surface of the electrode. Furthermore, it can also be used as a suspending agent in coating solutions.

Laviosa bentonite has a great ability to thicken rubber, forming stable mixtures ready for vulcanization. It can be added in powder form directly to the rubber, taking great care that lumps do not form during addition.

Selected, purified Laviosa bentonites can be used as binders in the production of graphite pencils leads.

We have developed a new industrial and commercial activity related to the production and sales of high performance Bleaching Earth for refinery, processing of oils and fats. Our bleaching earth are manufactured by acid activation of selected high grades of calcium bentonite. (more…)

Bentonite-based products can be used for a filling effect in the leather tanning process. Finely ground bentonite fills the fibres and swells with water to give a compact effect to the leather.Bentonite’s rheological properties mean it can also be used as a thickener in pigments used to colour leather.

Among its products, Laviosa Chimica Mineraria offers Barite, with low iron and silica content, for use in the production of brake linings.

Bentonite-based products stabilize and provide rheology to bituminous emulsion systems. They can be used in either liquid or paste form.Emulsions are made by dispersing bentonite in water, adding the other components and pumping this viscose mass into the asphalt and emulsifying it all with high-speed agitators.
