Livorno, 25 June 2025 – Laviosa S.p.A. (‘Laviosa’ or the ‘Company’), a leading company in the extraction and processing of bentonites into high value-added solutions forkey sectors such as high-performance industrial materials, animal welfare, logistics and consumer goods, renews the Lindocat Refill & Save project: the first self-service system for the purchase of bulk vegetable cat litter. The project was created to promote more conscious consumption and reduce environmental impact, offering consumers the opportunity to purchase their own cat litter independently ,thereby reducing the use of single-use packaging.
First launched in 2021, Lindocat Refill & Save has been a great success thanks to its practical and eco-friendly approach. Today, the project is available in 43 pet shops throughout Italy, with an improved structure and a configuration designed to optimise the usability of space in stores. Visual communication has also been updated to make it easier for end customers to understand how the service works.
Upon their first purchase, customers can obtain a reusable container directly from participating stores, to be used for subsequent refills. Through the self-service station, it is possible to refill the desired quantity of loose plant-based litter and pay for the product based on the quantity chosen. The loose product distributed through Refill & Save refill stations is Lindocat Pro Natura, the new plant-based litter developed by Laviosa as part of an upcycling project.
Made entirely from agricultural waste from food supply chains, the litter is the result of a process that recycles materials otherwise destined for disposal, transforming them into a compostable, biodegradable resource free of chemical additives.
Olimpia Laviosa, Director of Laviosa Pet Care, said: “As a leader in the cat litter sector, we are constantly looking for innovative solutions that combine effectiveness, sustainability and attention to our customers’ needs. We have recently expanded our range, adding a plant-based product, the result of an upcycling process, to our historic mineral-based litter. With the Lindocat Refill & Save project, we continue to invest in the development of new products and new innovative solutions, with the aim of offering increasingly sustainable alternatives that are attentive to the needs of our customers.“
