History

The Beginnings
1922
Carlo Laviosa established in Livorno the Shipping Agency, for the commercialization of coal imported from England..
1933
Carlo Laviosa acquires a plant in Livorno and begins the production of micronized coal.
1950
Ernesto Laviosa begins the production of foundry bentonites.
The Company's Growth
1968
Ernesto Laviosa begins the production of new bentonite and coal based products in the new plant of Galvani Street in Livorno.
1984
Ernesto Laviosa acquires the plant in da Vinci Street in Livorno where he begins the production of cat litter and installs the GCL plant.
1992
Giovanni Laviosa concentrates the cat litter production in Minersarda and founds the Laviosa Promasa for the transformation of bentonites for foundry additives.
1994
Giovanni Laviosa transfer the organoclay plant in Livorno.
2008
Giovanni Laviosa starts the Laviosa Sanayi ve Ticaret and begins the production of industrial bentonites in Fatsa.
2009
Giovanni Laviosa, together with the Koneru family, starts the Laviosa Trimex for the production of industrial bentonites in the Pundi plant.
The Internationalization Process
2010
Giovanni Laviosa starts the Laviosa MPC specialized in the production of bentonite based additives for tunnelling & drilling.
2013
Giovanni Laviosa acquires 5% of the Chinese supplier of organoclays Zhejiang Hongyu New Materials to strengthen global market presence.
2016
Giovanni Laviosa increases the shareholding in the Indian company to 100% and changes its name to Laviosa India.
2017
Giovanni Laviosa increases the shareholding in the French company to 100% and changes its name to Laviosa France.
2018
Giovanni Laviosa acquires 100% of the French Damolin Etrechy specialized in Cat Litter.

Mining

We are securing our bentonite reserves worldwide: Sardinia, Turkey, India and France, are our own mining locations close to our industrial operations. Mining requires long term vision and planning to guarantee the raw materials qualities and volumes requested by the customer and markets served today and long term.

For this reason the company continuously invest in new explorations, drillings, quality and quality assessment of new and existing reserves to secure 100% of our current and future raw material needs for the next 15 years.

Appropriate land restoration is secured by scrupulous and meticulous operations both before and after excavation.
